From Google News Search: "brokers and bid services" What exactly makes the stock to go up? Q. Yesterday was orbital sciences corp com (ORB)'s day for quarterly earning report. I woke up 7am and wanted to buy it as soon as my broker's extended hour service becomes avaiable. The bids and asks were much higher than the price currently trading. The stock was at about $24.17 the day before and it rose about 5% to about $25.60 a few minutes passed 8AM. I looked at the volume, it was about 1100. How could such a small volume drive the stock 5%higher? The market cap for the stock is 1.4B and the 10day average voulume a little bit more than half a million. Anyone have good explanations? Thanks. by the way, anyone knows which broker has longer extended hour service? I use etrade and their service is 8AM to 8PM. Thank Asked by Ivan K. - Fri Jul 18 16:05:35 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well, it could have be influenced by two things 1. The total outstanding shares are small, and therefore the volume traded would move in greater percentages of price increases. 2. The buy orders and sell orders simply met at that price. No specific volume is needed to achieve that. This simply is a case of high demand and limited supply. Answered by M O - Fri Jul 18 16:12:35 2008 What kind of business is this? Retail? Wholesale? Service? Or what else? Q. I'm a graphic designer. I create business cards, door hangers, pamphlets, rack cards, presentation folders, etc etc etc. Here's how a sale goes: 1. Meet the customer. 2. Learn what the customer needs. 3. Bring the need home to get a bid from a company in another state who does all the work, with whom I'm not an employee, partner or anything (just another customer - or "broker"). 4. E-mail, call or hand-deliver the bid to the customer for the product the customer wants. 5. Collect the money (my cost + mark-up). 6. Send the design to the company in another state. 7. Keep the profit. 8. The product is then sent to the customer (blind-shipped so they don't know who exactly did the printing) or sent to me if the customer would prefer that I… [cont.] Asked by Chris W - Sun Nov 22 17:54:21 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Q. Here are all the FACTS regarding who tried to and did not try to regulate the economy. In end, I say the problem was all of us, would you agree? Fact 1) Deregulation of banks was passed under the Gramm Leach Bliley Act (GLBA) in 1999 (under Clinton) - Althought this allowed banks to expand beyond traditional regulatory controls, the affects have been both good and bad. It has allowed many of the larger banks to cross into different financial services making them more stable (the reason why Citibank, JP Morgan, and Bank of America haven't gone under) Fact 2) Regulation of Accounting Practices by public corporations was passed under the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) in 2002 (under Bush). The affectiveness of the bill is still debated. Many… [cont.] Asked by Parallox - Sun Nov 2 23:04:41 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. As the factcheck.org article points out, if we want to assign blame for our current crisis, there is plenty of blame to go around. But the most important point is that, these sorts of partisan caricatures can only make the task [of resolving the crisis] more difficult. I don t give a damn who, or which party, created the crisis. I want to see it resolved. Let future historians write books about responsibility. But we need some fairly current historians to write, and soon, about how we resolved it and got back on track. This is a crisis that threatens the foundations of our economy and jeopardizes the financial security of our citizens. If someone sets fire to your house, you will call the Fire Department first to come put out the… [cont.] Answered by SCOTT M - Sun Nov 2 23:59:27 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "brokers and bid services" |
