how do you become an auto transport broker?
Q. i am a automotive transport owner-operator unhappy with the services of my broker. i would like to become my owen broker & possibley broker for other operators. at this point i am extremly ignorant and unsure what my first steps should be.

A. A broker needs a DOT license the same as any trucking company. Do a google search and get the info on-line. It's a tuff racket that is loaded with pitfalls like non-paying deadbeats, etc. I was in the biz in the late 80's/early 90's and quit cuz i was sick of millionaires owing me $$$.

A. I just got my car shipped and used Paramount Transportation Services, they are not a "Broker" but the actual trucking company. I was told about them by a friend of mine and they were GREAT!!! My driver (the one who transported my car on the truck) is the same one who transports the stars cars and he was terrific, I was late getting there due to the airlines delay and he waited and did not even charge me any delay fees. I talked to a lady named teresa at there office who also was just as nice, she put up With all my "dumb" questions...and the best of all my car was delivered in as perfect as condition as I shipped it. I hope this helps, Remember you get what you pay for, I got alot of cheap rates but SO glad I went with Paramount

Looking to get into the auto transport business, anyone familiar with this type of business please help!?
Q. I already have insurance and permits just need to know the basics such as billing, prices per mile etc. I am only operating within TX for right now... I know there is money to be made in this business.. please direct me in the proper route to take to insure success. Where can I find info on this business?

A. Prices Per mile vary on gas prices & trucking routes. There are many auto transport brokers who make a good living if they serve the customers best intentions professionally. You can find links to governemnt websies to get your broker bond which is required. Once bonded you will also need a place to get new business like haulingdepot.com or movecars.com.
